UP’s ₹10,000 Crore Prescription for a Global Pharma Hub

Uttar Pradesh has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth ₹10,000 crore with pharmaceutical companies at the Uttar Pradesh Pharma Conclave 1.0, inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Hotel Taj in Lucknow on February 3.

Key investors included Arna Pharma and Biogenta Life Science, each committing ₹1,250 crore, followed by Shukra Pharmaceuticals with an investment of ₹737 crore, Walter Bushnell Enterprises with ₹590 crore, and Jhanvika Labs with ₹553 crore, among others contributing to the total investment.

Addressing industry representatives, Chief Minister Adityanath assured investors of transparent governance, policy stability, and timely disbursal of incentives. He highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s transformation from a revenue-deficit state to a revenue-surplus one and reiterated the government’s commitment to contributing to the vision of a Viksit Bharat. The Chief Minister said the conclave aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a major hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing, innovation, artificial intelligence, telemedicine, medical technology, and clinical research.

As part of this strategy, the state is developing the Lalitpur Bulk Drug Pharma Park on a hub-and-spoke model with advanced R&D facilities. Additional pharma parks planned in Bareilly and other districts, along with a proposed world-class pharmaceutical institute in Lucknow, are expected to strengthen infrastructure, attract sustained investment, and establish Uttar Pradesh as a global destination for pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
