On September 3, 2025, the Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, approved infrastructure projects worth ₹75,000 crore across Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur—marking a major boost to the state’s urban development plans.
A key highlight is the ₹24,000 crore Mumbai Metro Line-11, a 17.51-km underground corridor connecting Wadala Depot to Gateway of India, serving as an extension of Metro Line-4. Of the total length, 16.83 km will be underground, with one at-grade section and 14 proposed stations, including Byculla, CSMT, Bhendi Bazaar, Horniman Circle, and Gateway of India.
According to the DPR by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, the metro will run at 80 kmph, with a 2.5-minute peak headway. Daily ridership is projected at 5.8 lakh by 2031, rising to over 10 lakh by 2055. The project will require 104 acres, of which 92.5 acres are government-owned. A 39-acre car depot will be developed on BEST land at Anik–Pratiksha Nagar.
Other key approvals include:
Suburban rail upgrades, New Thane Metro line, Pune–Nagpur Metro expansions, Nagpur Outer Ring Road, Thane–Navi Mumbai Airport rail link, International Business and Finance Centre (IBFC) in New Nagpur, New Bombay High Court complex at Bandra (East)
These initiatives aim to transform connectivity, decongest urban centres, and position Maharashtra as a modern infrastructure leader.
