Mumbai's JVLR Junction Gets Green Light for Underpass

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved the construction of a four-lane underpass at the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) junction, inspired by the Metro Cinema underpass at Marine Lines.

Designed to ease peak-hour traffic congestion and ensure safer pedestrian crossings, the project has received administrative clearance, and a consultant has been appointed to fast-track implementation. The decision was taken during a review meeting led by Mumbai North West MP Ravindra Waikar and BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, which addressed over 30 infrastructure and civic issues.

Key developments from the meeting include:

Affiliation of Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Hospital with Cooper Hospital, along with an ICU expansion from 12 to 22 beds.

Topiwala Market redevelopment to be completed by June 2026.

Tenders for Versova and Yari Road markets to be issued shortly.
