West Bengal PWD Issues ₹235 Crore Tender for Shilpa Setu Construction

The Public Works Department (PWD) of West Bengal has released a tender for the construction of Shilpa Setu, a significant infrastructure project over the Damodar River in Purba Bardhaman district. This new bridge will run parallel to the existing Krishak Setu along the Burdwan-Arambagh Road (SH-7) and includes additional construction over the Eden Canal.

The project spans 2.95 km and aims to enhance connectivity in the region, supporting economic and social development. With a budget of ₹235.22 crore, the construction is slated to be completed within 30 months, showcasing the state’s commitment to infrastructure improvement.

This tender is part of West Bengal’s broader strategy to boost transportation infrastructure across the state, addressing growing demands for efficient road networks. The new bridge is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on the Krishak Setu, offering a more direct and reliable route for commuters and goods transport.

Contractors interested in the project must submit their bids by 25 September 2024. The PWD's call for bids highlights the importance of this infrastructure upgrade, which will play a critical role in supporting the region's growth.
