During a high-level review meeting held in Amaravati on June 3, 2025, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to ensure the completion of Phase-1 construction works at the Machilipatnam, Ramayapatnam, Mulapeta, and Kakinada Gateway ports by December 2025. Emphasizing the strategic importance of ports and fishing harbours as economic growth drivers, the Chief Minister called for their swift operationalization.
CM Naidu also stressed the timely execution of Phase-1 development works for fishing harbours at Juvvaladinne, Nizampatnam, Machilipatnam, and Uppada, setting the same end-of-year target.
Progress updates for the major port projects include:
Machilipatnam Port: 43% complete; projected completion by November 2025
Ramayapatnam Port: 64% complete
Mulapeta Port: 46% complete
Kakinada Gateway Port: 29% complete
In addition to port infrastructure, the Chief Minister announced the formation of a logistics corporation to strengthen the State’s supply chain capabilities. He also revealed plans to launch Phase-1 construction of new airports in Kuppam, Dagadarthi, Amaravati, and Srikakulam.
To improve intra-state connectivity, road network expansion will be prioritized based on traffic demand and integrated with national highways through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
