Creative Newtech Limited, in partnership with its consortium member, has secured an Advance Work Order (AWO) from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), acting on behalf of Digital Bharat Nidhi under the Department of Telecommunications, for the development and maintenance of the BharatNet middle-mile network in Odisha.
The contract, valued at approximately ₹3,194.83 crore, encompasses the complete lifecycle of network deployment, including design, supply, construction, installation, upgradation, operations, and long-term maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure across the Odisha Telecom Circle.
The project is part of the Government of India’s flagship BharatNet Programme, which seeks to expand high-speed broadband connectivity to rural and underserved regions. The upgraded network is expected to enhance digital access across Odisha, supporting the delivery of e-governance services, education, healthcare, business applications, and other essential public services.
Under the project scope, the consortium will modernize the existing network by upgrading infrastructure to a ring topology, deploying optical fibre and IP-MPLS technologies, and establishing a State Network Operations Centre. The assignment also includes the implementation of fibre monitoring solutions, network management systems, power infrastructure, and the expansion of retail, enterprise, and wholesale connectivity services across a large number of locations throughout the state.
Beyond infrastructure deployment, the contract includes long-term operations and maintenance responsibilities, providing the consortium with sustained involvement throughout the network’s operational lifecycle. This structure is expected to create opportunities for recurring revenue through ongoing service management and network support activities.
For Creative Newtech, the award represents a significant step in expanding its presence within large-scale public sector digital infrastructure projects. The company believes the engagement will strengthen its expertise in systems integration, project execution, and managed services while supporting its strategic ambitions in emerging technology domains such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and data centre infrastructure.
Commenting on the development, Chairman and Managing Director Ketan Patel said the project marks an important milestone for the company, reflecting its growing capabilities in infrastructure execution and long-term service delivery while contributing to the nation’s broader digital inclusion and connectivity objectives.
