Electronics Component Boom: India Invests ₹7,172 Cr.

The Central government has approved 17 new projects worth ₹7,172 crore under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), further strengthening India’s push toward high-value electronics manufacturing.

With the latest approvals, the total number of sanctioned projects has increased to 24, spanning six major component categories across nine states. Notable participating companies include Jabil Circuit India, Aequs Consumer Products, Uno Minda, and TE Connectivity India. The government is targeting a cumulative production value of ₹65,111 crore, reinforcing India’s emergence as a global electronics manufacturing hub.

Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the critical role of strong design capabilities, high-quality standards, and resilient supply chains in ensuring long-term competitiveness. The newly approved projects—covering components such as camera modules and PCBs—will support multiple industries, including smartphones and automotive electronics. The next phase of development will focus on workforce skilling and adherence to global quality benchmarks to drive sustainable sectoral growth.
