Experience the New Mumbai: Coastal Promenade Opens June 2025

Mumbai is poised for a major urban transformation with the unveiling of a 7.5-kilometre-long sea-facing promenade along the Coastal Road, set to open on 15 June 2025. The promenade will extend from Priyadarshini Park at Breach Candy to the Worli end of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, offering a scenic, accessible space for walking, jogging, and cycling.

Designed with connectivity and safety in mind, the stretch includes 20 underpasses—one every 400 metres—ensuring seamless pedestrian movement across the coastal corridor. The public space spans 17 hectares in total, with 12 hectares of promenade developed by the BMC and a five-hectare central median landscaped by Tata Sons. These efforts are part of a broader 70-hectare Coastal Road open space plan led by AECOM.

The promenade emphasizes sustainability and aesthetics, with 70% of the area dedicated to green landscaping and 30% to paved surfaces. It will feature nine main access points at key city locations. While the parks along the route will be open daily from 8 AM to 8 PM, the promenade itself will remain accessible 24/7.

Reliance Industries is expected to spearhead the development of the green spaces under its CSR initiative, with a proposed investment of ₹500 crore, pending final administrative approvals and CRZ (Coastal Regulation Zone) clearances.
