River Navigation Department (RND) Minister Subhash Phal Dessai announced that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Goa Water Metro project will be submitted within four months. Kochi Metro Rail Ltd. (KMRL) is drafting the report, which will cover route mapping, cost projections, and long-term implementation strategies.
The initial phase focuses on nine river routes connecting key regions, including Panaji, Betim, Divar, Aldona, and Cortalim. The State Government is aiming for 100% central funding for the initiative. Speaking alongside KMRL Managing Director Loknath Behera, Minister Phal Dessai affirmed the RND's commitment to timely execution, emphasizing that the project will relieve road congestion, support riverine communities, and boost local tourism and job creation.
