Himachal Pradesh Seeks Private Backing for Rs 1,200 Crore Ropeway Drive

Himachal Pradesh is turning to private investment and external funding to build out its ambitious ropeway network. With construction costs running high, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has put out a call for viable project proposals from private players and external agencies. The push comes after a previous ropeway project in Shimla fell through due to prohibitive costs. To make future projects work, the state is proposing PPP frameworks featuring 30–35 year concession periods. Backed by Rs 1,200 crore in state funds, the initiative is designed to modernize tourism infrastructure and improve mobility across hilly terrain.
