Hindon River Makeover: Ghaziabad Set for New 4-Lane Overbridge

The Uttar Pradesh Avas Vikas Parishad has finalised the detailed project report (DPR) for a proposed four-lane overbridge across the Hindon River near the Hindon barrage in Ghaziabad.

The DPR has been prepared by the UP State Bridge Corporation, which will also be responsible for executing the project. Authorities are expected to seek a no-objection certificate from the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department before construction work begins.

The proposed 200-metre bridge will replace the existing narrow single-lane route on the barrage, which is currently used mainly by light vehicles and two-wheelers. Once completed, the overbridge is expected to improve traffic movement by providing direct connectivity between Siddharth Vihar, Vasundhara and Indirapuram.

Separately, the state government has allocated ₹31 crore for a ₹91-crore project involving the construction of two additional ascent and descent ramps for the 10.3-km Hindon elevated road. The project is presently in the tendering stage and is aimed at improving connectivity between Delhi, Vasundhara and Raj Nagar Extension.
