North Chennai's Kamarajar Port is set for a major capacity boost, drawing interest from five major global and domestic developers for its new bulk terminal project. Operating under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework via the DBFOT model, the expansion will introduce two massive 425-metre mechanised berths. Designed specifically to accommodate cape-size vessels of up to 1.8 lakh tonnes, the project promises to streamline dry bulk cargo handling and dramatically improve maritime logistics efficiency along the coastline.
