Kommaghatta: The New Hub for Bengaluru's ₹500 Cr Skydeck Marvel

Bengaluru’s long-awaited skydeck project has reached a major milestone with the selection of a 30-acre site in Kommaghatta, located behind the Kengeri Satellite Club and adjacent to NICE Road. After multiple site evaluations and rejections, the location—owned by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB)—was chosen for its expansive space, scenic lakefront setting, and excellent connectivity.

Estimated at ₹500 crore, the project will feature a 250-metre-high observation tower, offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the city. Envisioned as a flagship tourism and urban landmark, the skydeck aims to boost Bengaluru’s profile as a global tourist destination, attracting both residents and international visitors.

The project will be executed by Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure (BSmile). Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar recently inspected the site and directed officials to initiate the land handover process to expedite construction.

Earlier, alternative sites—including Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout, Byappanahalli, Hemmigepura, and Jnanabharathi—were considered but ultimately ruled out due to clearance hurdles, limited accessibility, and logistical constraints.

With Kommaghatta now officially finalised, the skydeck is poised to become a signature addition to Bengaluru’s skyline and a new focal point for urban tourism in the city.
