At the India Maritime Week conclave in Mumbai, the Government of Odisha signed multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth ₹50,000 crore, spanning shipbuilding, port modernisation, green hydrogen, and business development.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted Odisha’s strategic advantage on India’s eastern coast and its emergence as a maritime and logistics hub. Key agreements include a ₹21,500 crore investment for Bahuda Port and ₹22,700 crore for a National Mega Ship Building Cluster. Additional MoUs were signed for cruise terminal development, academic collaboration, and infrastructure expansion.
With port handling capacity projected to reach 500 million tonnes annually, Odisha is poised to transform its coastal economy and strengthen global trade connectivity. Major corporate participants include Reliance Consumer and Jain Metals, which plan to set up new manufacturing facilities in the state.
