As the AI-India Impact Summit commenced in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will transform—rather than replace—India’s IT sector, projecting that the industry could expand to $400 billion by 2030. The event marks one of the first global AI gatherings of its scale to be hosted in the Global South.
In a special interview with ANI’s text service, the Prime Minister spoke about AI’s growing influence on India’s technology ecosystem and outlined the government’s roadmap to strengthen the sector.
“India’s IT sector has been the backbone of our services exports and a key driver of economic growth. AI presents both a tremendous opportunity and a challenge for this sector. AI market projections show India’s IT sector could reach $400 billion by 2030, driven by new waves of AI-led innovation,” he said.
The summit has convened global AI leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to deliberate on strategies to harness AI for accelerating economic growth, improving service delivery, and reinforcing India’s position in the global technology landscape.
