The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has launched a large-scale infrastructure development initiative aimed at transforming Narela, located in northern Delhi, into a dynamic sub-city on par with Dwarka.
The project is being overseen by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and includes a comprehensive upgrade of civic and transport infrastructure. Key components of the plan include:
Modern sewage and drainage systems, Upgraded roads and street lighting, Improved water supply and public transport, Enhanced policing and safety measures
One of the flagship developments is the ₹6,230 crore Rithala–Narela–Kundli Metro corridor, a 26.5-km line with 21 stations, expected to drastically cut commute times in the region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the metro line earlier this year.
In a boost to surface connectivity, a new DTC bus terminal was recently inaugurated by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Additionally, the DDA is constructing a 50-acre integrated sports complex to promote recreational and sporting activities in the area.
The development plan reflects the government's push to decentralize urban growth and create self-sustaining townships equipped with modern infrastructure and public amenities.
