SJVN has secured its inaugural project in Mizoram with a letter of intent (LoI) for a 2,400 MW pumped storage project, valued at over Rs. 13,947 crore. The project, named the Darzo Lui Pumped Storage Project, marks a significant milestone for SJVN as it ventures into this new territory.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between SJVN and the Mizoram government will be signed within three months. This agreement, facilitated by the LoI issued by the Mizoram government, will allocate the project on a nomination basis through the MoU route. The ambitious project will be constructed across Darzo Nallah, a tributary of the Tuipui River, leveraging the upper and lower reservoirs' 770-meter gross heads.
The project's estimated cost, including interest during construction (IDC) and financing costs, stands at Rs. 13,947.50 crore, based on April 2023 price levels. This development aims to harness the potential of pumped storage to meet the region's energy needs efficiently.
