On February 11, 2026, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the ₹1,133.67 crore Hariyakhedi Water Augmentation Project in Ujjain.
The initiative is designed to ensure an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water during Simhastha-2028, the grand religious congregation held once every 12 years in the city. Emphasizing the project’s importance, CM Yadav stated that it would not only cater to the needs of millions of devotees expected during the event but also strengthen Ujjain’s long-term water infrastructure. He said the project would guarantee access to safe drinking water for both pilgrims and residents, while ensuring sustainable supply to households across the city.
Alongside the water augmentation project, the Chief Minister also inaugurated 11 additional development works worth ₹47.23 crore, aimed at upgrading civic infrastructure and preparing Ujjain for the upcoming international religious gathering.
