Tech Giant Jabil Invests Over ₹2,000 Crore in New Gujarat Facility

Global electronics manufacturing leader Jabil is nearing completion of its new facility in Sanand, Gujarat, backed by an investment exceeding ₹2,000 crore, according to Minister of Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The facility will specialize in silicon photonics and other advanced electronic components, reinforcing India’s efforts toward self-reliance in technology and domestic manufacturing. The nearly finished plant aligns with the government's Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the telecom sector, introduced in April 2021 and set to conclude at the end of the current financial year.

Jabil, which operates in over 25 countries with a workforce of more than 140,000, serves over 300 global brands across industries including healthcare, cloud computing, smartphones, automotive, and consumer electronics.

Under the PLI scheme, the government has disbursed ₹1,162 crore in incentives so far, with Jabil receiving the highest share at ₹235.87 crore. Industry leaders are calling for stronger collaboration between telecom operators and the government to fully harness the potential of local manufacturing and drive employment growth.
