Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation for key infrastructure projects worth ₹5,125.37 crore in Arunachal Pradesh from Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar, on 22 September 2025.
Among the major initiatives are two significant hydropower projects in the Shi Yomi district:
The 186 MW Tato-I project, with an investment of ₹1,750 crore
The 240 MW Heo project, with an outlay of ₹1,939 crore
Both projects are being developed jointly by the Arunachal Pradesh government and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO). Once operational, they are expected to generate approximately 802 million and 1,000 million units of electricity annually, significantly strengthening the region’s energy security and contributing to India's clean energy goals.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated a ₹145.37 crore convention centre in Tawang under the PM-DevINE (Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region) scheme. With a capacity to host over 1,500 people, the centre is aimed at boosting tourism, culture, and local events.
In addition, Modi launched a range of other infrastructure projects totaling ₹1,290 crore, covering areas such as connectivity, healthcare, and fire safety—key to enhancing the state’s overall development.
The event was attended by Governor KT Parnaik, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.
