Avaada Group has entered into a strategic partnership with the Government of Maharashtra to develop two major pumped storage hydroelectric projects with a total capacity of 3,600 MW, representing an investment of ₹15,100 crore.
The projects include the 2,400 MW Pawana Falyan and the 1,200 MW Sirsala installations, which are together expected to generate over 3,800 direct employment opportunities. These initiatives aim to significantly enhance Maharashtra’s energy resilience and support the integration of renewable energy sources.
Pumped storage systems play a vital role in ensuring grid stability by storing energy and balancing power supply from intermittent renewables. This enables a reliable and consistent electricity supply, a key requirement for accelerating the state’s green energy ambitions.
“Maharashtra is committed to becoming India’s Green Energy Hub. Every MoU must translate into timely action on the ground. The government will extend full support to ensure swift implementation of these transformational projects,” said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He reaffirmed the state’s dedication to clean energy, sustainable development, and economic growth.
These infrastructure projects are critical to achieving Maharashtra’s climate targets and play a strategic role in India’s broader transition toward a decarbonised energy system. The Avaada-Maharashtra collaboration underscores the importance of advanced energy storage in expanding renewable energy capacity and building a sustainable energy future.
