Kharicut Canal Revamp: Gujarat Pumps ₹1,003 Crore into Phase 2

The Gujarat government has approved ₹1,003 crore for Phase 2 of the Kharicut Canal redevelopment in Ahmedabad, to be executed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

This phase will cover multiple stretches, including:

• S P Ring Road to Naroda Crematorium
• Vinzol Canal to Avkar Hall at Ghodasar
• Avkar Hall to Vatva Gam
• Vatva Gam to S P Ring Road

The redevelopment plan includes the construction of RCC stormwater box structures, road and footpath development, retaining walls, water supply pipelines, irrigation structures, stormwater extensions, and sewer systems.

In Phase 1, 80% of the work was completed along a 12.75 km stretch, utilizing ₹700 crore from the allocated ₹1,338 crore. The first phase covered redevelopment from Naroda Crematorium to Vinzol.
