Oil India Limited (OIL) has signed a long-term Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) to supply natural gas to the Assam Gas Based Power Station (AGBPS) in Bokuloni, Dibrugarh district.
Under this 15-year agreement, OIL will supply 1.4 million standard cubic metres per day (MMSCMD) of natural gas, ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply to Assam’s largest gas-based power plant. The new deal follows the successful completion of a previous 10-year agreement between the two entities.
AGBPS is a key contributor to the electricity requirements of Assam and the broader Northeastern region. This renewed partnership underscores OIL’s commitment to leveraging its robust reserve base and domestic production capabilities to enhance regional energy security.
Both OIL and NEEPCO affirmed that the agreement aligns with the national objective of promoting affordable, clean, and sustainable energy. The collaboration marks a significant step toward securing reliable power for Assam and neighbouring states.
