Cairn Oil & Gas is set to embark on an exciting new venture in Assam next month. The company's ambitious plans involve drilling 10 wells across four hydrocarbon blocks situated along the Assam-Arunachal and Assam-Nagaland borders. This announcement was made during the 2024 India Energy Week.
With a projected success rate averaging at 40 percent, Cairn Oil & Gas intends to have two rigs operational in Assam for drilling and appraisal purposes.
In the event of a successful discovery, the company will pursue development activities, contingent upon the availability of development rigs. However, in cases of uncertainty, Cairn Oil & Gas will proceed with the drilling of two to three appraisal wells. Additionally, to expedite the project's financial realization, the company will mobilize a second rig during this drilling sequence.
