GAIL's Growth Engine: $134$ MMscmd Target Set for FY27

Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has announced a comprehensive expansion plan to increase its gas transmission volumes to 133–134 million metric standard cubic metres per day (mmscmd) by FY27.

The company’s growth strategy is supported by securing additional regasification capacity through partnerships with multiple LNG terminal operators and expanding its own Dabhol LNG terminal to 10–12 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA). Currently, GAIL operates 6.5 MMTPA of regasification capacity—2.5 MMTPA at Dahej, 1.5 MMTPA at Dhamra, and 2.5 MMTPA at Dabhol. With new LNG supply contracts expected, GAIL plans to enhance its capacity via strategic collaborations with existing and upcoming terminal operators.

The planned expansion is aimed at meeting the rising demand for natural gas across industrial, power generation, and city gas distribution sectors. According to Rakesh Kumar Jain, Chief Financial Officer of GAIL, the initiative will also help offset temporary disruptions in FY26 caused by monsoon-related damage and delayed refinery connectivity.
