LG's India Leap: Manufacturing Shift & ₹1,000 Cr R&D Boost

LG Electronics has announced plans to relocate production of select newer capital goods from Korea, China, and Vietnam to India, as part of its strategy to expand its manufacturing footprint and strengthen local production amid the global push for supply chain diversification.

In parallel, LG Corp, the holding company of the LG Group, is investing ₹1,000 crore to establish a global R&D centre in Noida, focusing on electronics innovation and technology design. The new facility is expected to create approximately 500 jobs, further enhancing India’s role in LG’s global operations.

Investor confidence in the initiative is strong, supported by LG’s extensive distribution network and its focus on high-margin, technology-driven businesses, positioning India as a strategic hub for manufacturing and innovation.
