On November 5, 2025, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a series of major development initiatives with a total investment of over ₹46,000 crore.

The projects include the establishment of a new port at Bahuda in Ganjam district, a shipbuilding and repair centre near Paradip, and a world-class cruise terminal in Puri. The Bahuda port, developed in collaboration with the Paradip Port Authority, will involve investments of around ₹21,500 crore, while the shipbuilding and repair centre at the Mahanadi river mouth will receive ₹24,700 crore.
