Hebbar's Vision: Hindustan Zinc's 2 MTPA Goal by 2030.

Vedanta Group’s Hindustan Zinc aims to double its metal production capacity to 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) within the next five years, up from its current 1.1 MTPA, Chairperson Priya Agarwal Hebbar announced.

“With India’s growing steel capacity and strong infrastructure push, Hindustan Zinc is on course to achieve 2 MTPA by 2030, as zinc is essential for steel galvanization,” Hebbar stated in a letter to shareholders.

The company is also expanding into critical minerals and has secured multiple mining blocks across India. Its roaster and fertilizer plant projects are progressing as planned, reinforcing future growth.

Hindustan Zinc’s record production growth is powered by automation and digitalization. The company has implemented tele-remote underground mining operations and robotics in metal production to enhance efficiency and minimize human intervention. AI-driven advancements in ore extraction, processing, and production further support its operational excellence.

Over the past five years, Hindustan Zinc’s metal production has grown at a CAGR of 4%, while silver production has increased by 5%.

For the quarter ending December 31, 2024, Hindustan Zinc reported a 32% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹2,678 crore, up from ₹2,028 crore in the same period last year.

As the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer and the third-largest silver producer, Hindustan Zinc continues to strengthen its leadership in the global metals industry.
