PNGRB Unveils 425-km Gas Pipeline for Kerala & Tamil Nadu

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has unveiled plans for a 425-kilometer natural gas pipeline aimed at addressing the energy needs of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

This proposed pipeline is designed to establish a connection between Petronet LNG's import terminal in Kochi, Kerala, and Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, passing through Kanyakumari. The culmination point in Thoothukudi will link to another gas pipeline, facilitating connectivity with Indian Oil's LNG import terminal in Ennore, Tamil Nadu.

Pipelines are recognized as superior means of transportation for these products, offering inherent advantages such as reliability, safety, low energy consumption, minimal transit losses, and negligible environmental impact.
