Bihar has outlined ₹1.88 lakh crore in planned investments across power generation, energy storage and transmission to meet a projected peak electricity demand of 11,747 MW by 2030.
Energy Secretary and BSPHCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Ajay Yadav presented the investment pipeline at an India Energy Week 2027 awareness programme at IIT Patna. Under its Renewable Energy Policy 2025, the state aims to develop 24 GW of renewable energy capacity and 6.1 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2029–30. Plans also include developing a green hydrogen ecosystem with five pilot green hydrogen villages.
The proposed projects include 1,100 MW of rooftop solar capacity, 500 MW of solar installations on government buildings and a 150 MW battery-backed solar park in Aurangabad.
