Puducherry has added 13.794 MW of renewable energy capacity under the Central government’s Grid Connected Rooftop Solar (GCRT) programme and the PM Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) scheme.
Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power, announced this while responding to a question in the Lok Sabha from MP V. Vaithilingam. The Ministry has allocated Rs 16.21 crore for the installation of 2,329 solar projects in the Union Territory. Under the PMSGMBY scheme, residential households receive financial assistance for rooftop solar setups, with subsidies of Rs 30,000 for 1 kW, Rs 60,000 for 2 kW, and Rs 78,000 for 3 kW or more.
The Ministry has also extended support for rooftop solar installations across residential, institutional, and social sector categories under the GCRT programme, aiming to promote renewable energy adoption while providing technical assistance to consumers.
