THDC India Ltd (THDCIL) has successfully synchronised the 660 MW second unit of its Khurja Super Thermal Power Project (STPP) with the national grid, marking a key milestone in the commissioning of the 1,320 MW (2x660 MW) plant located in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh.
With an investment of approximately ₹13,000 crore, the Khurja STPP is set to significantly boost power availability in Uttar Pradesh and across the northern grid. Synchronisation ensures the unit’s frequency and voltage align with the national grid, enabling reliable power transmission and paving the way for full-scale operations.
Once both units are operational, the plant will strengthen grid stability, meet rising electricity demand, and contribute to the region’s industrial and economic growth. It will also play a crucial role in bolstering India’s thermal power capacity and enhancing national energy security.
