REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC, has entered into a significant agreement with the Gujarat government to execute smart metering initiatives amounting to Rs 2,094.28 crore. This strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalized between Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) and RECPDCL in the esteemed presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, preceding the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024.
The comprehensive project is slated for implementation in the Paschim Gujarat Vij Company (PGVCL) as part of the inaugural phase of the revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). Under the terms of the MoU, the Gujarat government will actively support RECPDCL in securing the requisite permissions and clearances for its upcoming projects within the state.
The MoU delineates a well-defined, time-bound framework to expedite the execution of RECPDCL's projects in Gujarat, with PGVCL falling under the purview of GUVNL. This collaboration underscores a commitment to advancing smart metering infrastructure and contributing to the modernization of the distribution sector in the region.
