PGCIL Power Surge: ₹964 Crore Boost for India's Grid

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has secured board-level approval for three major investment projects totaling ₹964.44 crore, aimed at enhancing the nation’s power transmission infrastructure. These initiatives align with the company’s strategic focus on improving power evacuation and boosting regional connectivity.

The first project, valued at ₹212.81 crore, involves strengthening the transmission system to support power evacuation from the solar-rich Bhadla/Bikaner complex in Rajasthan. It is expected to be commissioned within 18 months of allocation, with a target completion date of 9 June 2026.

The second initiative, Eastern Region Expansion Scheme–43 (ERES–43), carries an estimated cost of ₹342.69 crore. Commissioning is also slated within 18 months of allocation, with a best-effort deadline of 1 March 2026.

The third project, Eastern Region Expansion Scheme–44 (ERES–44), involves an investment of ₹408.94 crore and follows a similar commissioning timeline, aiming for completion by 24 May 2026.

These projects are crucial to enhancing grid capacity and reliability, particularly in integrating renewable energy from key generation hubs like Bhadla/Bikaner into the national grid.
