Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has emerged as the successful bidder for a significant Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) project under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route.
The project, titled “Inter-Regional Strengthening between Southern Region (SR) Grid and Western Region (WR) Grid,” will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis. PGCIL received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on 29 September 2025, marking a crucial step toward enhancing inter-regional grid connectivity and power system reliability.
Key components of the project include:
Construction of 765 kV Double Circuit (D/c) transmission lines, Alignment passing through the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra, Installation of associated line bays at both terminal ends
Once completed, the project will significantly bolster power transfer capacity between the southern and western regions, supporting greater grid stability and efficiency in power distribution across states.
