Power Grid Taps GE Vernova for Renewable Energy Push

GE Vernova’s Indian subsidiary, GE Vernova T&D India, has won a significant contract from the state-run Power Grid Corporation of India (Power Grid) to supply key power transmission equipment. Under this order, GE Vernova T&D India will deliver over 70 extra high-voltage (EHV) transformers and shunt reactors to strengthen India’s renewable energy infrastructure.

The 765 kV units will be strategically deployed across the country’s renewable energy corridors to facilitate efficient evacuation and transmission of clean energy. This project supports India's Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework, aimed at accelerating renewable energy integration into the national grid.

GE Vernova T&D India will oversee the complete project scope, including supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the advanced equipment. Manufacturing will take place at the company’s cutting-edge facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, with deliveries slated to begin in 2026 and continue through 2027.

This major order represents one of the largest for GE Vernova’s Electrification business in India, reflecting both the company's technological strength and Power Grid’s confidence in its solutions. The deployment will significantly enhance the country’s transmission capacity, supporting its renewable energy goals and contributing to a more robust and sustainable power network.
