Skipper: Scaling New Heights in Power Transmission

Kolkata-based Skipper, a leading manufacturer of power transmission towers, has announced plans to expand its production capacity by around 60 per cent by FY 2027–28, with the objective of becoming the world’s largest player in terms of installed capacity.

The company currently has a production capacity of 3,75,000 tonnes per annum and aims to scale this up to 4,50,000 tonnes by FY28. In the near term, Skipper is focusing on brownfield expansions, while greenfield projects are expected to commence from FY27. These include plans for a new manufacturing facility in Western India to complement and balance its existing capacity in the eastern region.

Skipper is also targeting a significant increase in exports, with plans to double their contribution to 50 per cent of total revenue over the next three to four years, driven by expanding presence in international markets such as the Middle East, North Africa, and the United States.

The company’s growth strategy is closely aligned with rising global demand for renewable energy infrastructure and grid expansion. Skipper is leveraging the China Plus One strategy to position itself as a competitive alternative to Chinese manufacturers in global markets.
