Uttar Pradesh has become the primary beneficiary under the Central Government’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), securing ₹40,739 crore in sanctioned projects, Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik informed the Rajya Sabha. The funding allocation comprises ₹18,956 crore for smart metering infrastructure and ₹21,782 crore dedicated to loss-reduction infrastructure. Supported by a Central Gross Budgetary Support of ₹16,570 crore—of which ₹6,989 crore has already been utilized—the initiative aims to modernize UP's distribution network, curb technical and commercial losses, and enhance overall power reliability.
