Coonoor Railway Station Gets a ₹12.18 Crore Makeover

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the redeveloped Coonoor Railway Station in Tamil Nadu under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme through video conferencing, marking another milestone in India's railway station modernisation programme. Redeveloped at a cost of ₹12.18 crore, the heritage station features upgraded passenger amenities, biodiversity-themed artwork inspired by the Nilgiris, and improved infrastructure while preserving its historic architectural character. The modernisation is expected to enhance the travel experience and strengthen tourism in the Nilgiri district.
