The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been tasked with preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for two significant metro corridors in Madhya Pradesh. These corridors will connect Indore to Ujjain and Pithampur, spanning a total distance of 84 kilometers. This project marks a major step towards improving regional connectivity and infrastructure.
The initial phase of the project will focus on linking key locations from Shri Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain to Lavkush Chauraha in Indore, passing through Nanakheda Bus Stand. This phase aims to enhance the connectivity between these important religious and commercial hubs.
This initiative comes in anticipation of the Simhastha, a major Hindu congregation held every 12 years in Ujjain, scheduled for 2028. The metro rail construction is expected to facilitate better transportation and accommodation for the influx of visitors during this event.
The Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation has formally issued the work order, indicating that preparations are underway. Meanwhile, the first phase of the metro rail project in Bhopal has completed its trial run, with subsequent phases soon to follow.
The DMRC’s involvement underscores the commitment to advancing urban transport infrastructure in the region, setting the stage for enhanced economic and cultural exchange.
