Enhanced Travel: Modi Unlocks 103 Modern Railway Hubs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 103 Amrit Bharat railway stations from Bikaner, Rajasthan, marking a significant milestone in India’s ongoing railway modernization drive.

The ceremony was attended by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The newly upgraded stations span 18 states and union territories, reflecting a nationwide push to enhance transport infrastructure.

The stations inaugurated include those in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and several other regions.

This initiative falls under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), a flagship program of the central government aimed at redeveloping over 1,300 railway stations in phases. The scheme prioritizes passenger convenience through upgraded facilities such as modern waiting halls, clean toilets, lifts, escalators, digital displays, free Wi-Fi, and accessibility features for persons with disabilities. The first station redeveloped under the ABSS was Gandhinagar, Gujarat, in 2021.

Each station's redevelopment plan is customized to meet local requirements and often incorporates regional cultural and architectural elements into its design.
