Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is making significant strides toward 100% electrification and net-zero carbon emissions, aligning with Indian Railways’ sustainability goals.
A major milestone has been reached with the successful electrification of the Alipurduar Division (APDJ), while work in the Tinsukia Division (TSK) progresses steadily. In APDJ, the completion of the Fakiragram–Golakganj section (46 RKM / 50.536 TKM) marks the final step toward full division electrification, enhancing efficiency and sustainability. Additionally, the electrification of the New Coochbehar–Dinhata–Bamanhat sections (49.81 RKM / 55.71 TKM) further advances railway modernization in the region. This achievement includes SCADA implementation, Trip Unit Rating supply at stations, and successful electric loco trials. Notably, the electric loco trial commenced at 19:16 hours and arrived at Fakiragram (FKM) at 20:11 hours, showcasing the seamless implementation of electrification.
“With these advancements, Northeast Frontier Railway remains dedicated to modernizing railway infrastructure and actively supporting the Government of India’s 'Mission Electrification' initiative,” said Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR. “By prioritizing sustainability and efficiency, NFR is paving the way for a greener, more reliable, and future-ready railway network, seamlessly connecting the Northeastern states with the rest of the country.”
