Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML), the special purpose vehicle (SPV) overseeing Phase-II of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, has commenced underground utility mapping along Corridor-VI, which will extend the Green Line from MGBS to Chandrayangutta via the Old City.
The proposed 7.5 km stretch will run along Mir Alam Mandi Road, with six new stations planned at Salarjung Museum, Charminar, Shalibanda, Aliabad, Falaknuma, and Chandrayangutta. To facilitate construction, HAML is conducting road-cutting and non-destructive testing to identify underground utilities at these locations.
Currently, road widths range from 60 ft. (Darulshifa to Shalibanda) to 80 ft. (Shalibanda to Chandrayangutta). These corridors are being uniformly widened to 100 ft., with station areas expanded to 120 ft., enabling efficient construction and station integration.
An agency will soon be appointed to carry out ground-penetrating radar surveys, probing up to 5–6 meters deep to ensure minimal disruption to existing water, drainage, power, and telecom infrastructure.
The development affects around 1,100 properties, while special design measures have been implemented to protect 103 sensitive religious and heritage structures, preserving the Old City’s cultural fabric.
