The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has approved 19 major infrastructure projects valued at over ₹12,000 crore, aimed at accelerating urban mobility and strengthening Mumbai’s expanding metro network.
The largest contract—worth ₹4,788 crore—has been awarded to Larsen & Toubro for integrated civil works on Metro Lines 4 (Wadala–Kasarvadavali) and 4A (Kasarvadavali–Gaimukh). To enhance last-mile connectivity, MMRDA has sanctioned ₹535 crore for multi-modal integration (MMI) across 32 stations, to be executed by four joint ventures.
Additionally, Aurionpro Solutions secured a ₹249 crore contract to implement the automatic fare collection (AFC) system for Lines 4 and 4A, reinforcing the focus on tech-driven commuter experience.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated the approvals are critical for economic growth and urban transformation, while Deputy CM Eknath Shinde called it a major step toward a sustainable and inclusive metro system. Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee emphasized that the projects—spanning civil works, system integration, and traction power—are vital for operational readiness across multiple corridors.
