RailTel Bags LoI for ₹49.67 Crore Karnataka Transport Project

State-owned RailTel Corporation of India Limited has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) for an Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) project from the Additional Commissioner for Transport (Enforcement-South) under the Karnataka Transport Department, the company said on Tuesday.

According to a regulatory filing, the project is valued at ₹49.67 crore, inclusive of taxes, and is scheduled for completion by November 3, 2026.

The ITMS initiative will deploy advanced digital and communication technologies to monitor, manage, and enforce road transport systems. Key components are expected to include automated number plate recognition systems, traffic surveillance cameras, e-challan enforcement mechanisms, and centralised control centres.

The system is aimed at improving traffic management, enhancing road safety, and strengthening enforcement efficiency through real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making.
