Unlocking Ancient Paths: NHAI's Bid for Bihar Heritage Connectivity

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited bids for consultancy services to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the development of a new spur road extending from the Amas–Darbhanga Corridor (NH-119D).

This proposed spur aims to enhance connectivity to several culturally and historically important towns in Bihar, including Bodhgaya, Rajgir, Vaishali, and Darbhanga. These locations hold immense significance—Bodhgaya, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a key pilgrimage destination for Buddhists; Rajgir and Vaishali are ancient cities steeped in history; and Darbhanga is recognized as a cultural hub of the region. The new road is expected to boost tourism, regional development, and economic activity by improving highway access to these areas.

The appointed consultancy firm will undertake various responsibilities, including topographical and traffic surveys, feasibility and environmental studies, and cost estimation. The DPR is to be completed within nine months from the date of commencement.

Interested firms must submit their bids by 16 June 2025.
