Bengaluru's Eastward Leap: NH-75 Gets a 10-Lane Makeover

To address rising freight traffic from industrial hubs east of Bengaluru and alleviate congestion for daily commuters, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to upgrade the Bengaluru–Kolar stretch of NH-75 into a 10-lane highway.

The proposed 69-km expansion, from Hoskote (32 km from Bengaluru) to the Andhra Pradesh border near Kolathur, will include six central lanes for through traffic and two service lanes on either side. This development is aimed at facilitating long-term regional growth and improving traffic efficiency.

The upgraded stretch will seamlessly integrate with the Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) and the partially operational Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway. According to NHAI officials, the project will ease traffic to Kolar, Bangarpet, and Mulbagal, while also improving freight movement to the Narasapura industrial area. Access-controlled entry and exit points are under consideration to streamline traffic further.

The Hoskote toll plaza currently sees traffic volumes exceeding 45,000 vehicles per day, and the KR Pura–Hoskote segment remains heavily congested. A proposed elevated corridor along this stretch is awaiting final approvals.

Meanwhile:

The Katamanallur flyover is 85% complete and partially open to traffic.

A 20-km expressway link connecting Hoskote to Tamil Nadu near Hosur is nearing completion and is expected to be operational by August.

This infrastructure upgrade is poised to significantly enhance connectivity and support economic activity across the Bengaluru–Kolar–Andhra corridor.
