The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved a ₹630 crore project to address the long-standing lack of direct connectivity between two major national highways in Andhra Pradesh.
For decades, the Konaseema region—earlier part of the undivided East Godavari district—has lacked a direct link between NH-216 and NH-65, even though the highways run along opposite sides of the region. Despite Ravulapalem being included in the National Highway network, the absence of a connecting corridor has created a critical gap, leading to traffic inefficiencies and delays.
The approved project will establish a direct road link connecting key parts of the district, significantly easing travel between Ravulapalem and Amalapuram. It is expected to reduce travel time and improve the movement of agricultural produce, seafood, and other commercial goods. The project involves land acquisition from 727 farmers across 22 villages and includes widening and upgrading the road to accommodate future traffic growth. Once completed, the new corridor is expected to ease daily congestion and provide a boost to the local economy.
