The Centre has approved three major infrastructure projects totaling ₹14,850 crore to improve connectivity in the National Capital Region and reduce travel times to key destinations like Katra and Dehradun.
Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway Extension (₹4,000 crore): This project will extend the 20-km expressway (NE-5) from the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway to Urban Extension Road II (UER-II), integrating NH-344M, the Dwarka Expressway, and the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. It will provide direct access to Delhi, Gurugram, and IGI Airport while serving as an alternative to NH-44.
UER-II to Delhi–Dehradun Expressway Link (₹3,350 crore): A 17-km extension from UER-II near Alipur to Tronica City, Ghaziabad, connecting with the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway (NH-709B). This bypass is expected to ease congestion in Delhi by diverting long-distance and freight traffic.
Eastern Extension of UER-II (₹7,500 crore): A 65-km corridor connecting the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway to Noida via Ghaziabad and Faridabad. It will link key routes including Delhi–Meerut, Noida–Greater Noida, DND–Faridabad, and the Yamuna Expressway, improving connectivity to Loni, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Faridabad from across Delhi.
