Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has reviewed the progress of key road infrastructure projects across the state and directed officials to ensure transparency, quality standards, and timely completion of all ongoing works.
During a review meeting of the Public Works Department (PWD) held at the Chief Minister’s Residence, Sharma instructed officials from the Rajasthan PWD and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, conduct regular inspections, and enforce accountability for any instances of substandard construction.
The Chief Minister also assessed the status of several major connectivity initiatives, including proposed greenfield expressway projects linking Jalore–Jhalawar, Sri Ganganagar–Kotputli, and Ajmer–Banswara. Progress on the northern section of the Jaipur Ring Road project was also reviewed.
Officials informed the meeting that Rajasthan has completed road development works covering 48,748 km over the last two years and five months, with a total investment of ₹33,195 crore. The works include the construction of 17,934 km of new roads and improved connectivity for 1,756 villages across the state.
Additionally, 6,184 km of district and rural roads have been upgraded to major district roads. Under the Atal Pragati Path programme, 378 km of roads have been completed, benefiting 256 villages through enhanced transportation links.
The government highlighted that, during a comparable period under the previous administration, 30,641 km of roads were developed at a cost of ₹13,400 crore, including 4,671 km of new roads and connectivity improvements for 280 villages.
Sharma also reviewed ongoing development projects in Bharatpur district and directed officials to expedite works while addressing issues related to waterlogging, road widening, drainage infrastructure, sports facilities, and park development.
Senior state government officials, including Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Akhil Arora, Additional Chief Secretary (PWD) Praveen Gupta, and representatives from NHAI and the Public Works Department, were present during the review meeting.
